Maybe just solid plastic with the kind of knurled pattern cut into the sides like you'd see in typical metal hand-tools. Since this isn't the first time I've had this issue with grips or rubberized coatings in general, I'm starting to wish for a better grip solution. It's worth mentioning that the grips aren't rubber they're some kind of synthetic silicone. I ended up cutting chunks out of it to make it fit back on. The problem is even more pronounced with the scroll wheel it absorbs moisture or hand-grease and stretches out, which makes it catch on the chassis during scrolling. I ended up having to cut them down and reattached them with duct tape and superglue. ![]() ![]() When the grips eventually fell off, I rinsed them off with water, but I ended up stretching them out unintentionally. The bigger problem in my case is that the grips stretch easily when shearing force is applied. The detachment is not due solely to the adhesive they use, but it is part of the problem.
